What is so wrong with Earth outgrowing humanity?

Thanking God I am not entitled,
here, thanking the Earth I am not
Her enemy, here, I do not want be
in such foul company longlasting

Though I will share the same fate
and what is so wrong, tell me,
with Earth outgrowing humanity?
This planet was here long before us

This planet will be here long after us,
She will thrive without us, and I look forward
to Earth’s happiness in our absence
Duncan is still around here, listening,
for no reason at all, just judging others’s
human exercises as though he is life’s gift-giver
