Ulysses of the Meadows

the mountains are not wise
they are not strong, no compass
no retracted devil’s wish
or condor on the loveseat
like a wicker basket running
and tossing into cast-turned
wind, wind and distraught noises
shown that both equivalencies
are in doubt is the favor of God
the favor of subjected transformed
rights of the sky, rights of the meadows
