The horse is drawn

I believe when we die
our continuing spirit
is granted a complete
clarity of conscience

we fully realize the evil
we have done and if
we have not accepted it
in this temporary life
we are immersed with shame
and the hurt of having hurt others,

to a point of suffering
this idea has been seen
long ago and was the origin
of the concept of repentance

but the concept of repentance
was weaponized
to the point of ineptitude
and strolling residual feasts,
power-taking is all that remained
of this idea, power and control
