Nothing in common (with Julia Jacklin)
Julia Jacklin is lighting the hallway
“too much symmetry” she says like a passage under the rocks
“we’ve been here before,” but not standing
rams time counterculture to specific filing cabinets
there was reason and calculated science metrics
like dancing Toyotas, fleeing the scene
under the door, under the poor wreckage
like a dolphin in the rush of obsessed harmony
and she doesn’t know why she sings
and I do not know why I compose
but we will never have anything in common
