From the Sun to the Unaltered Sea

Swimming around tyrants on toy-shaped fishing boats
sailing for shark fins and dolmen-esque pools of sliding carpentry tools
where he does not break silence over the camping gear and scolded
breathing masks worn into his skin like a fragment of a journey
sent into tempted marketplaces with fragile wounds and cursory
blanket-filaments where one is vacant and a second is plagiarized

Swimming for the second source of a succumbed ticking missile
grateful he has squandered the last of his coins in the pedestrian
stark-running happy with pheasant trees and lightened ornaments
like source-bound one and one and forgetful Athens placeholders
the southerly slow market, gaining grams for extraction
like toothaches and marble stalking-crows and hammered indifferent
tool-makers, for leaving sisters behind on the front line
and for leaving tyrants on the sands of the island
they have run to surface not knowing where or how to find
laughter in forgotten traits of sand-driven mines
