ailing wounds strung around Earth’s birth
given false witness embedded in false narratives
claiming Cain and Abel demonstrated inevitable violence
the story seeks to answer the problems it presents
that only wants death through a new heaven cure
a mockery of our ability to learn and adapt
as if we must maintain such low expectations
there are no gross winters we have not survived
we understand peace and the meaning of worthwhile
we understand boundaries and custom hearts
the powerful teach us that we are only empty
